Strategic differentiation through focused training in a dynamic industry is one of the key contributions that BCCT has made throughout the Brandix Group, helping it to grow and achieve increasingly important milestones. The vocational training improves the value addition process by upgrading the knowledge base of employees from grass roots level through to junior and middle level management; aligning all associates with both customers' needs and corporate targets.

Internal Courses
The College offers a responsive curriculum of courses which changes with the needs of staff. There are more than 100 specialised courses available for the different sectors of the company with deep differentiation for some categories of associates.
BCCT started two major streams of training programmes; Industry Oriented Training for school leavers and Industry Based Training for existing employees. The College pioneered Enterprise Based Training (EBT) Centres in the clothing industry and these centres focused on enterprise training needs. Courses range from fabric technology to merchandising, advanced pattern making and sewing machinery skills.
In addition, BCCT provides instruction in the specialised and sophisticated software of GSD, which is a highly proven work measurement tool used in the clothing industry. The College's e-learning programme teaches soft skills for middle management. This course is easily accessible and has the advantage of being available for newcomers as well as those who want a refresher course.
BCCT's two-year Diploma in Clothing Technology and Management
This two year diploma is a comprehensive course teaching the latest clothing technology and management. Successful completion of the Brandix College two-year diploma course exempts students as well as qualified professionals such as Chartered Accountants or Chartered Marketers with five years of affiliation with the textile or clothing business, from the first two years of the RMIT's three year degree courses.
Affiliated Degree Course
The Brandix College of Clothing Technology also runs a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree programme in collaboration with the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University, one of the oldest and most respected in Australia.
This comprehensive course is designed to give school leavers an excellent foundation for fast progress in this vibrant and exclusive industry. The first two years of the degree course incorporate IT elements which are run by Microsoft; a recognised partner who adds more weight to the value of the programme.
Experienced and part-qualified apparel professionals also have the opportunity to apply through a fast track route that exempts them from sections of the course. Flexibility of the course structure allows students to earn while learning.
Infrastructure
The Brandix College has modern training equipment and its laboratories are fully equipped with the latest technology. The College plans to set up new weaving, knitting, dyeing and finishing laboratories to strengthen the understanding of industry applications. Its sewing room and Computer Aided Design room are fully modernized with facilities that are conducive to learning. The College has a state-of-the-art textile Research and Development laboratory which has a number of buyer accreditations including Marks and Spencer and Liz Claiborne. The lab carries out testing for brands such as Marks & Spencer, Hennes & Mauritz, Abercrombie & Fitch and Land's End.
College facilities also include an IT laboratory with 20 desktop computers which is an accredited Online Test Centre for the International Computer Driving License. The IT Mobile Training Unit uses 20 Notebook computers for its rural training programmes.
The CAD Room is equipped with a digitizer, plotter and computers for pattern making, grading and marker making.
Other resources are the BCCT reference library which stocks current textile and IT textbooks and industry journals and a fully equipped auditorium with seating for 100.
Expertise
The collective qualifications of the College academic staff include four PhDs, four Masters and 10 Bachelors Degree holders. Another valuable resource the College draws upon is a pool of experienced professionals from the industry for teaching, which is a unique situation for an academic institution.
