Priyan Fernando

Chairman (Non-Executive)

Priyan Fernando is the Chairman of Brandix Lanka Limited. He also works as a senior advisor to the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in New York City.

Priyan recently retired after a 32-year career with American Express in NYC. In his most recent position as Executive Vice President, Global Business Services of American Express (AXP), he was responsible for all internal servicing of this $32 billion payments and services company with a presence in over 130 markets. This organization, which Priyan built from the ground up, delivers all financial, procurement, real estate, human resources and business transformation support across the entire American Express enterprise.

Under Priyan's leadership, the approximately 2,000-person Global Business Service unit implemented a global end-to-end process transformation to enhance efficiency, effectiveness and control. This significant enterprise-wide change management effort has yielded more than $500 million in cost reduction and direct new revenue. Priyan's work has resulted in several significant innovations, including proprietary new ways to drive efficiencies and enhance effectiveness, which have been replicated across American Express and other organizations.

Prior to this role, Priyan was President, and Chief Operating Officer of American Express Global Business Travel, where he had P&L responsibility of over $1 billion and oversaw a staff of over 12,000 people. In this role he led a transformation of the Global Service Delivery Network and Client Management activities across the business. He was recognized in the Business Travel World Top 50 in 2008.

Previously, Priyan served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of American Express Global Corporate Services and was a member of the company's Senior Finance Leadership Team. He played an instrumental role in pioneering the financial shared services model at American Express.

Before joining American Express in 1982, Priyan had a successful public accounting career with Ernst & Young in New York City and in Sri Lanka.

Priyan has served on the boards of the New York City Leadership Center, the Advisory Council of the Conference Board and of Rearden Commerce. He was also a member of the International Committee of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of the UK. Priyan is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Management Accountant. He holds an MBA from Indiana University and is based in New York.

Ashroff Omar

Chief Executive Officer

Ashroff Omar, Chief Executive Officer of Brandix Lanka Ltd, is a leading industrialist and a prominent figure in the apparel industry. He is a Director of Phoenix Ventures Ltd - the holding company of Brandix Lanka Ltd, where he also serves as Director on many of its subsidiary companies.

Ashroff Omar was instrumental in the establishment of The Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF) - the apex body of the apparel industry primarily involved in driving strategy for the industry, which he chaired at its inception. He is also the former Chairman of the Sri Lanka Apparel Exporters Association and is a frequent spokesperson for the apparel industry.

He serves as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of John Keells Holdings PLC, Director of the Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology (SLINTEC), Board of Directors of the United States-Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission and Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Garments - Export Development Board (EDB). He also serves as the Hon. Consul General of the Republic of Finland.

Aslam Omar


Aslam Omar joined the business in 1984, and within a year began to successfully manage and develop a growing number of subsidiaries under the emerging Brandix Group. He was instrumental in forming alliances with Tyco A&E (USA), American & Efird Inc. (USA) and T&S Buttons (Hong Kong) leading to successful joint-ventures, namely Brandix Hangers, American and Efird Lanka and Bangladesh (now fully owned subsidiaries of A&E Inc., USA) and T&S Buttons respectively. These companies have premium standings as trim suppliers to the apparel industry. In addition, he is the Director in charge of Brandix Textiles - a leader in fabric manufacturing today, with a customer base that spans the region. He also oversees investment optimization for the Brandix Group, as well as the protection of customer brands and product identity.

He also holds the position of Chief Executive Officer of Phoenix Ventures Limited, the holding company of the Brandix Group in addition to the position of Managing Director of Phoenix Industries, Sri Lanka's largest plastic manufacturer. He is a Fellow Member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Chartered Accountants and a member of The Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Australia.

Feroz Omar


Feroz Omar is a Director of Brandix Lanka Limited and serves as Director on many of its subsidiary companies. Currently, he is the Director in charge of Brandix India Apparel City and Ocean India, as well as Ocean Lanka and Quenby Lanka Prints, both of which he helped form. He also holds responsibility over all acquisitions, as well as the management of all Group infrastructure related projects.

Feroz Omar, who has enjoyed singular success in India, was instrumental in setting up the Brandix India Apparel City (BIAC) project - Brandix's "gateway" to India, and continues to be responsible for the growth and the administration of the entity. BIAC - a 1,000 acre, infrastructure rich, fully serviced and environmentally compliant manufacturing park - is designed and constructed exclusively to accommodate top notch international apparel sector manufacturers, and is one of the largest industry-specific special economic zones in the world, and the only one of its scale and concept in South Asia.

He is also a Director of Kuruwita Textile Mills Ltd. Kuruwita Textile Mills Ltd (KTM), through its subsidiary, Brandix Textiles Limited, manufactures and sells textiles for the garment export industry in Sri Lanka. The company engages in warping, sizing, and weaving of textile fabric. KTM is a subsidiary of Brandix Textiles Holdings Limited.

Having begun his career at MKC Industries - the Brandix Group's maiden foray into the manufacture of knitted lingerie - he was an integral part of the growth of Brandix from its inception. With logical integration requiring a fabric processing mill, he fulfilled this need by converting a Greenfield site into Brandix Textiles Ltd (BTL) - a leader in fabric manufacturing today, with a customer base that spans the region. BTL, which is the manufacturing arm of KTM, is the largest woven fabric manufacturer which concentrates on the manufacture of cotton and cotton-lycra fabric.

Trevine Jayasekara

Finance Director

Trevine Jayasekara is the Group Finance Director of Brandix Lanka Limited and is responsible for the overall finance function of the Group, as well as related support functions. He also leads the IT, Tax, Legal and BOI divisions at Brandix and lends leadership to the process of design, collation and presentation of Group risks and mitigation plans. He is the former Group Finance Director of Aitken Spence & Co., where he was responsible for the overall finance function of the parent company and its subsidiaries. He has held several positions at Aitken Spence, including Director Management Board, where he was responsible for finance, planning and IT for their entire group, and Director Corporate Finance, where he spearheaded project evaluation, long-term planning and treasury management.

Mr. Jayasekara brings with him a wealth of experience in international banking, having worked at Arab Bank Limited in Bahrain and subsequently holding the post of General Manager with Deutsche Bank in Colombo. He is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK. He is a non-executive Director of Lanka Ventures Ltd and a former non-executive Director of the Hayleys Board. He was also appointed to the Board of National Development Bank (NDB) as a Non-Executive Director in February 2010.

Ajit Johnpillai


Ajit Johnpillai was responsible for the design and execution of the Brandix Group's Sustainability strategy at its inception. He currently oversees the Central Procurement function of Brandix, as well as the planning and controlling of the movement of imports, export of goods and transportation.

He is a former Financial Controller/Director of Smiths DIY Group Limited in New Zealand, a NZ$ 50 million Group that traded in hardware, builder's supplies, and sports goods. Prior to this, he served as an Audit Manager with Ernst & Young, in Bermuda and New Zealand.

He was also an Audit Consulting Manager with Touche Ross, a firm of public accountants in Jamaica. In 1990, he entered the apparel industry as an Operations Manager with LWR Casualwear, a New Zealand public listed company designing, manufacturing and marketing women's casualwear. He is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Sri Lanka and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK.

Dave Ranasinghe


Dave Ranasinghe is the Board Director responsible for operations and continuous improvement. He is in charge of overall manufacturing & operations of the Brandix Group. He also spearheads the pipeline of innovative solutions as well as operational risk management of the Group. Dave will also be involved in making timely investment decisions in operations and delivering inspired solutions through innovation, process improvement and automation.

Since joining Brandix in 2009, Dave has been instrumental in building the Bra business and in the establishment of the company's Bra cluster.

He is a former Board Director of MAS Holdings, MAS Apparel, Bodyline, Intimate Fashions, MAS Research & Innovation, MAS Intimates and MAS Investments. He was responsible for spearheading group-wide initiatives in production, technology, commercial and logistics and research and innovation in addition to building the Bra business at MAS.
